JUST-IN; ENUGU STATE GOVT & THE ALLEGED CA-COVID PALLIATIVES, FACTS & THE TRUE STORY
At
the early hours of this morning, Sat. 24th October 2020, members of
Jane-carestv media crew embarked on a fact finding mission to QUEEN'S
SCHOOL ENUGU, where the rumoured news about the CA-COVID palliatives
meant for ndi Enugu were allegedly hoarded. In the curiosity to feed our
eyes, nothing of such nature were found in the said warehouse. From our
interview with the management of the school, it was learnt that the
CA-COVID palliatives which were brought into the warehouse on the 1st of
Sept, 2020 as sent by the FGN were by 4th of that same month
distributed out to all the seventeen (17) LGAs of the state.
This
now leaves much food for thought than any in our stomach as it's
apparent the enemies of the state are at work by pebbling petty lies
& propaganda in order to jeopardise the peaceful atmosphere that
Enugu State had long enjoyed, to an extent of inciting miscreants to go
into the school premises to disrupt the serene environment of the
students in their dormitories, all in the name of searching for
palliatives.
For avoidance of doubts on how the palliatives were shared, below are verifiable facts on record;
*CA-COVID PALLIATIVES FROM THE FGN*;
These
palliatives were handed over to all the 17 Local Government Councils in
the state. Awgu LG in turn gave to each of the 11 wards (that make up
the council) the following items for distribution to their towns;
220ctns of Indomie Noodles, 109ctns of Spaghetti, 110bags of Garri, 100bags of Sugar, 5bags of salt & 20bags of rice.
ENUGU STATE GOVT. PALLIATIVES
The
State Govt. shared palliatives through the office of the Deputy
Governor, Hon. (Mrs) Cecilia Ezeilo, who aptly represented the Governor
on the occasion of the palliatives distribution on the 12th of June,
2020. The Deputy Governor, Hon. Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo at the occasion told
the women groups' representatives that it was part of the State Govt.
own measure to cushion the effect of the virus pandemic in the state,
thus she urged the women to always abide by the rules of the preventive
measures outlined by the Ministry of Health on staying safe. The
palliatives were handed over to the National President of the Catholic
Women Organisation (Awgu & Nsukka Dioceses); Mrs Nwanneka Okoro, as
well as the President of the Mother's Unions in the Anglican Communion,
Enugu Ecclesiastical Province; Mrs Joyce Chukwuma, where these women
group heads promised to share the items judiciously to the indigents
women amongst them as instructed. For record purposes, each of the women
group got the following items;
300bags of
50kg foreign rice, 300bags of Semovita, 50cartons of noodles, 180cartons
of tomato paste, 50 jerry cans of groundnut oil & 100pieces of nose
masks.
Therefore, with the above detailed
information explicitly pointed here-in, those pointing accusing fingers
on the Enugu State Government in hoarding the palliatives meant for the
masses are hereby advised to ask questions around or visit their Local
Government Councils/Wards to inquire about the way and manner in which
their own share of the palliatives received were shared among their
people other than causing commotion in the state with their rumours that
are not only untrue but misleading.
