ENUGU GUBER 2023: CHIEF WHIP ENHA, ENUGU WEST LEADERS, STAKEHOLDERS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOV. UGWUANYI IN THEIR MEETING, PLEDGES SOLIDARITY TO THE ZONING ARRANGEMENT



CHIEF WHIP ENHA, ENUGU WEST LEADERS, STAKEHOLDERS PASS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE ON GOV. UGWUANYI IN THEIR MEETING, PLEDGES SOLIDARITY TO ZONING ARRANGEMENT

Jubilations as history was recorded on Sun, July 18, 2021 when Enugu West leaders and Stakeholders in a meeting conveyed at Sen. Hyde Onuaguluchi's Enugu residence, passed a pass vote of confidence on Gov. Ugwuanyi for his good governance and peace legacy in the state. 


Speaking at the occasion, Sen. Ben Collins Ndu, who was the convener of the meeting alongside with his counterpart Sen. Hyde Onuaguluchi who played host for the meeting reiterated their stands in following a peaceful transition of power come 2023 via the long aged zoning culture and practises in the state. The duo, who are topnotch stakeholders from Enugu West Senatorial Zone emphasized that their stands were borne out of the precedents that had long been put into place and duly adopted by the past Governors of the State; H.E Gov. Chimaroke Nnamani and Sullivan Chime during their administrative successions. 


Adding their voices to the support for a peaceful transition of power in 2023, Amb. Fidelia Akuabata Njeze (First Enugu Female Minister) alongside with Hon. Anayo Onuegbu (Omeiheukwu) reiterated their stands in aligning themselves too with the long practised zoning system in the state. 


Also pledging their loyalty to the incumbency, Barr. Egumgbe on behalf of the Enugu West Commissioners promised that they would follow suit with the zoning arrangement in the state without any fear or favour. 


In their words of solidarity, the five Local Government Council Chairmen in the Zone, comprising of Hon. Ezekiel Chukwu (Kpokirikpo) from Aninri, Hon. Pedro Okwudili Nwankwo (Eze Ome-Ogo) from Awgu, Hon. Chukwudi Ani (Salty) from Ezeagu, Hon. Hon. (Barr.) Frank Udemezue from Oji-river and their Udi counterpart Hon. Pascal Agu, gave their assurances that peace must prevail in the state come 2023 as zoning culture stands as a  non-negotiable bargaining. 


Also lending their supports to the zoning practices, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu (Deputy Speaker, ENHA) on behalf of the House Members from the zone, promised that their stand remains unbiased towards supporting whosever that Gov. Ugwuanyi anoints as his successor for the Gubernatorial seat.


In his words of wisdom, the Chief of Staff to the Enugu State Government, Hon. Festus Uzoh also emphasized that Ndi Enugu West Senatorial Zone cannot afford to throw the entire state into a turmoil or trade the peace that Ndi Enugu had long enjoyed because of 2023 Guber race. He maintained that a peaceful transition is paramount in the state, hence he enjoined all to endeavour to support zoning for peace to reign supreme. 


Speaking at the meeting, Chief Whip ENHA, Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh (Agudo Nwanyi), Member representing Awgu North Constituency in her speech passed three votes of confidence on Gov. Ugwuanyi with references to; His peace legacy and good governance in the state, His Excellency's Anointed Successor for 2023 and the proposed Mega Unity rally by the Zone on Aug. 7, in solidarity and support to the zoning culture of the State. In reference to these three votes of confidence, Chief Whip moved a motion for it and it was seconded by Rt. Hon. Chuka Eneh, Member representing Udi South Constituency. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu called for those in favour of the motion to say "I"s while those against to say "Nil"s. With all the hands up in the air in support of the motion, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu ruled with the "I"s have it. 

In her words of appreciation, the Deputy Governor of the State, Hon. Mrs Cecilia Ezeilo appreciated all the leaders and Stakeholders of the Zone for their stand on zoning, and also for all solidarity and support to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. She assured them that Ndi Enugu will be pleased with their decision because all eyes have long been on the zone to comply with the peaceful arrangement of the zoning practices in the state.  

In their respective closing remark and vote of thanks, Hon. Victor Okoro, PDP Party Chairman of Aninri Local Government and Hon. Tony Nwonye, a stakeholder from Aninri Local Government, reassured the state that come 2023, Zoning arrangement and peaceful transition of power shall prevail, for no person's personal interest is worth putting the entire state political dynasty into any state of jeopardy or prejudice. 


Enugu West leaders and Stakeholders at the meeting agreed to adopt the nomenclature "IFE EMELU MMA UNITY RALLY" as the name for their rally scheduled to hold Sat, 7th of August, 2021.


Enugu State is in the hands of God.
