CHIEF WHIP IMPLORE PARENTS, GUARDIANS TO ADVANCE THEIR GIRL CHILD DIGITAL LEARNINGS

The International Day of the Girl Child which is celebrated annually on Oct. 11, is a day set aside by the United Nations to empower and amplify the voices of young girls around the world. This year, the theme, for the celebration, is "Digital Generation...Our Generation".

United Nations advocates that the Fundamental Human Rights, Safety and Education of a Girl Child be made a priority by the society, for girls also play integral part in the active progress of the world.

In her message to the constituents through the media team of JANE-CARESTV, Chief Whip opines that the Day of the Girl Child which focuses attention on the challenges girls face, like domestic violence, education inequality, child marriage and minor abuses, is thus a clarion call for all Parents/Guardians to take proactive steps towards advancing their girl teens' digital learnings for a better future of our generation.

According to United Nations, COVID-19 pandemic has adversely hampered learnings and as such, many have resorted to digital learnings. Records on ground have also shown that many girl teenagers below the age of 25 have little or no internet access at home for learnings compared to the boys counterparts. Thus, Chief Whip admonishes for #GirlsTakeOver to correct this imbalance in gender digital divide/gap so that a Girl Child in this 21st century won't be cut-off in digital transformation.

Chief Whip wishes constituents #happygirlchildday.
