BREAKING: JANE ENEH EMERGES ENUGU 8TH ASSEMBLY LEADER

A two-time member representing Awgu North State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Chinwe Eneh, has emerged the Deputy Minority Leader of the 8th Assembly. This is the first time a female lawmaker occupies the position in the lower chamber of the Enugu State House of Assembly. 

Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh of Awgu North Constituency, the immediate past Chief Whip of the 7th Assembly was elected the Deputy Minority Leader of the House unopposed and declared winner by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu during the plenary today Tuesday, June 4, 2023. 

Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh of People's Democratic Party (PDP) is the only principal officer from Greater Awgu who is a principal officer in this 8th Assembly. 

Hon. Ani Johnson Samuel of Enugu North (Labour Party) emerged as the Majority Leader, Rt. Hon. Iloabuchi Aniagu of Nkanu West Constituency (PDP) emerged as the Minority Leader while Hon. Udefuna Jude Chukwudi of Ezeagu Constituency (Labour Party) emerged as the Deputy Majority Leader of the House. 

For other positions, Hon. Eze Ejike Jude of Igbo-Eze North Constituency 1 (Labour Party) was elected the Chief Whip, while Princess Obiajulu Ugwu of Enugu South Rural Constituency (Labour Party) won the position of the Deputy Chief Whip of the House. 

Others are Chukwuma Ekwueme of Uzo-Uwani Constituency (PDP) became the Minority Chief Whip while Okey Mbah of Nkanu East constituency (PDP) emerged the Deputy Minority Leader of the House. 

The Deputy Minority Leader, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh alongside with other elected principal officers were sworn-in by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu, after taking the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of Office. 

Speaking with JANE-CARESTV shortly after the plenary, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh thanked Gov. Peter Mbah for his unflinching support to the 8th Assembly. While calling on her colleagues to join hands with the speaker and Gov. Mbah in running a true and democratic governance in the state, she reiterated her commitment to effective and efficient representation to her constituents.

"The good people of Awgu North will continue to support and partner with Gov. Mbah-led administration in achieving its set down goal on disruptive innovation and accelerated development in the state," Deputy Minority leader added.
