JUST-IN: ENUGU DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, ENEH CONGRATULATES SEN. NGWU ON HIS VICTORY AT THE TRIBUNAL

ENUGU DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, ENEH CONGRATULATES SEN. NGWU ON HIS VICTORY AT THE TRIBUNAL

Published by JANE-CARESTV, Tuesday September 12, 2023.

The Deputy Minority leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Chinwe Eneh (Agudo) has conveyed a heartfelt congratulation to the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone, Sen. Osita Ngwu (RG) on his victory at the tribunal.

Recall that dissatisfied with the result of the National Assembly Election conducted on the 25th of February 2023, Dennis Oguerinwa Amadi of Labour Party (LP) headed to the tribunal to challenge the outcome of the election in declaring Engr. Osita Ngwu of People's Democratic Party (PDP) the winner of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

After weeks of legal battle and proceedings, the National and State House of Assembly election Petition Tribunal sitting in Enugu has upheld the election of Osita Ngwu, the candidate of People's Democratic Party, as the rightful winner of the Enugu West senatorial zone position in the poll.

In a ruling today Tuesday, September 12, the tribunal stated that the petitioner had flaws in its case. The error in its case was the merging allegations of non-compliance of the electoral act and corrupt practices in a single case. The tribunal emphasized that the allegations ought to have been presented as separate cases with specific supporting facts.

On the alleged case of over-voting, the court ruled that the petitioner couldn't provide sufficient particulars in their pleadings despite bringing witnesses and ballot papers as evidence. The court also highlighted that the origin of the ballot papers presented remained unclear.

Recall also that Senator Osita Ngwu of People's Democratic Party (PDP) floored Nicholas Eze of APC in the senatorial election petition judgment delivered in Enugu yesterday monday, September 11th, 2023. In a unanimous decision, the tribunal described APC's application as frivolous, lacking in merit and thereby struck out.

Speaking with JANE-CARESTV shortly after the ruling, The Deputy Minority leader ENHA, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Chinwe Eneh congratulated Sen. Osita Ngwu on his victory at the tribunal.

Congratulating the good people of Enugu West over the good news and victory to the zone, our democracy and state, Mrs Eneh called on all and sundry to continue to support the workaholic and youthful senator, Engr. Osita Ngwu for more accelerated development and dividends of democracy in the zone.

"Already, Sen. Ngwu has hit the ground running. "His elevated portfolio in the senate as Committee chairman on solid minerals, Committee vice-chairman on Drugs and Narcotics, alongside with other Committees he is a member of, shows clearly that Sen. Ngwu has a lot to offer to the people of the state and the country at large. "Worthy of mention also is the news of the recent appointments made by Sen. Ngwu across Enugu West Senatorial zone. "All these affirm that competence, hardwork, diligence, dedication and passion for effective and efficient representation are good attributes obtainable in the person of Sen. Ngwu. "So, let us support Abia Ike N'eti to do more," Mrs Eneh stated.

Enugu West Senatorial Zone is in good hands.
