TRIBUNAL: ENUGU DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, ENEH CONGRATULATES GOV. MBAH ON HIS VICTORY, HAILS THE RULING AS 'GREAT VICTORY' FOR NDI ENUGU

                     Gov. Peter Mbah

The Deputy Minority leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Chinwe Eneh has congratulated Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), as well as Ndi Enugu, over the judgments of the Enugu State Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal, today thursday, September 21, stressing that the judgement is a great victory for the people of the state.

The deputy minority leader said the victory at the tribunal is for the peace of the state and an opportunity for ndi Enugu to join hands together with the governor to work for the progress of the state.

In its lead judgment, the governorship election tribunal sitting in Enugu on thursday dismissed all the petitions filed by the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and its governorship candidate, Mr Christopher Agu, as well as the Labour Party (LP) and its governorship candidate, Chijioke Edeoga, challenging the victory of Governor Peter Mbah in the March 18th election.

On the PRP petition, the tribunal ruled that the allegation of its governorship candidate that Governor Mbah's NYSC certificate was forged could not be proved by the petitioner.

On the Labour Party petition, the three man panel led by justice Kudirat .M. Akano struck out Edeoga's application seeking to disqualify Mbah for NYSC forgery, saying that NYSC certificate according to Section 177 of the 1999 constitution is not a requirement for contesting governorship election. The tribunal rejected Edeoga's witnesses on the ground that the LP governorship candidate did not present any admissible evidence to prove that Mbah's certificate was forged.

The tribunal holds that Dr. Peter Mbah did not submit his NYSC certificate to INEC in aid of his qualification to contest for office governor since he was already qualified without NYSC certificate.

The tribunal further ruled that Governor Peter Mbah was duly elected by the majority of votes cast at the election.

Speaking with JANE-CARESTV, the deputy minority who couldn't hide her excitement expressed joy and happiness over the governor's victory at the tribunal, stressing that the 'judgement is a great victory for the people of the state.'
