The Deputy Minority leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh (JP) has graced the grand civic reception organised by the people of Ngwo Progressive Assembly in honour of their worthy son, Sen. Engr. Osita Ngwu, Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial Zone.

Ngwo, one of the biggest political wards in Udi local government area, came alive on Saturday, February 3, as it was thronged with several dignitaries who were on ground to honour the senator representing the zone who doubles as Senate Minority Whip, Sen. Osita Ngwu (RG). 

The reception tagged "Grand Civic Reception in honour of Distinguished Senator Osita Ngwu" by Ngwo Progressive Assembly was held at St. Mary's Catholic Church Field Isiokpoto, Ngwo. 

The event attracted several dignitaries, including the executive governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and Members of the National Assembly from Enugu West zone in the likes of Hon. Engr. Anayo Onwuegbu, Member representing Awgu/Aninri/Oji-River Federal Constituency and Rt. Hon. Barr. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha, Member representing Ezeagu/Udi Federal Constituency.

Others spotted were Enugu West State House of Assembly Members led by the speaker of the 8th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Uche Ugwu.

Also present were Enugu west council chairmen led by Udi Mayor, Hon. Nze Philip Okoh (Phino Tech); PDP Enugu West and local government party excos and faithful; Wife of late Ikemba Ndi Igbo gburugburu, Her Excellency Amb. Bianca Ojukwu (Nee Onoh); Traditional Rulers; Political appointees; Stakeholders; Youth Organizations; Clergy men and women; Support Groups; among others. 

In his welcome address, the chairman of the occasion and PDP chairman Udi local government area, Prof. Okey Orji described Sen. Ngwu as a worthy son and also the right man for the job. 

At the event, the Chairman of Ngwo Progressive Assembly, Hon. Austin Agu said Sen. Osita Ngwu is an embodiment of peace, adding that Ngwo people are proud to host the reception. 

Hon. Nze Philip Okoh on behalf of Enugu West council chairmen described the reception as a clear demonstration and celebration of the choice Ndi Enugu West made during the Feb. 25th poll. 

In their separate speeches, Hon. Anayo Onwuegbu and Rt. Hon. Barr. Sunday Cyriacus Umeha assured Sen. Ngwu of their support, loyalty and partnership in delivering the dividend of democracy to the people.

Satisfied with his good works within the short period of stay in office, a chieftaincy title "Ike eji eje mba 1 of Ngwo", was conferred on Sen. Ngwu by the traditional rulers. 

In his remarks, Sen. Ngwu thanked Ngwo Progressive Assembly for organising the historic reception in his honour. 

"I am grateful for the honour. I pray God to replenish all you have committed to making it a tremendous success. 

"Just as you are celebrating me, you will also be celebrated for success, which will come shortly."

"Thank you all for coming here from far and near to celebrate with me on the occasion of my civic reception and 46th birthday anniversary. I pray for God's blessings upon you all and journey mercies back to  your various destinations," Sen. Ngwu said. 

Speaking with JANE-CARESTV shortly after the event, the deputy minority leader described Sen. Ngwu, as a shinning light whose emergence will translate to progress and development in the zone. With Sen. Ngwu's antecedents, I am optimistic that his tenure will bring good news to our people," she said. 

"Speaking further, she called on her constituents and, by extension, the good people of Enugu West senatorial district to unite in protecting their interests." 

"Congratulations once more our own, Abia Ike N'eti n'enugu west," Mrs Eneh added.
