The Deputy Minority leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh has felicitated with children from her constituency on the occasion of the Children's Day Celebration.

In a message to mark the 2024 Children's Day made available to JANE-CARESTV, the deputy minority leader who is also the Chairman, House Committee on children and gender affairs, enjoined all and sundry to promote inclusivity by ensuring that all children, regardless of their background, have equal opportunities and access to education and resources.

"Children are an integral part of society, and as such, they deserve to be acknowledged and celebrated today and always. They are our future. Thus, I am urging all parents and guardians to uphold good moral values in their daily pursuits and live by example so that our children can emulate us and sustain our good legacies. This, she said, will reduce the propensity of social unrest and other vices."

While wishing the children of her constituency a happy children's day, she assured them of her love and friendship at all times.

The lawmaker called on all children to be good ambassadors of their parents, shun social vices capable of truncating their future, and be of good behaviours so that their parents could be proud of them.

She charged them to take their academic and vocational studies seriously, be obedient to their parents, and respect constituted authorities in their various communities.

The statement reads, "I felicitate with the children of Awgu North Constituency on this auspicious occasion of children's day elebration. Children's Day is an event celebrated in many parts of the world. The day is simply set aside to honour children and minors.

"I want to reassure our children that we remain committed to fulfilling our promise of a better and prosperous Awgu North Constituency."

She called on religious, educational, and private organisations to assist parents in the task of training up children, adding that the upbringing of children should not be left for parents alone. According to her, when a child becomes irresponsible, the child becomes a problem not just to the parents but to the society at large.

The statement further added that parents should develop the habit of spending valuable time with their children, regardless of age and needs, and ensure that they receive proper guidance and counselling at all times.

God bless Awgu North Children. Happy Children's Day!
