Speaking to JANE-CARESTV on the occasion, the deputy minority leader expressed her heartfelt appreciation to Senator Tinubu, represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, for gracing the event and highlighting the importance of this year's theme, "Eliminating Abuse to Foster a Healthy Society." She noted that the theme serves as a clarion call for all women to take active roles in combating abuse in all its forms, whether physical, domestic, sexual, psychological, emotional, or financial. "This is a crucial step towards building a healthy and progressive society," she emphasized.
Mrs. Eneh also extended her commendations to the wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, for her exemplary leadership and dedication to the welfare of women and children in the state. "The successful flag-off of this year's August Meeting is a testament to her tireless efforts and commitment to improving the lives of our women and children through numerous empowerment programs," she remarked.
She particularly lauded the Custos Care Foundation and the Mama Care Initiative, which have significantly contributed to the fight against maternal and infant mortality in the State.
Moreover, Mrs. Eneh praised constituents for their impressive turnout at the event, demonstrating their unwavering support for the August Meeting's objectives. "Your participation is a clear indication of your commitment to the development of our communities and the advancement of women's rights and welfare," she stated. She wished all participants a happy and productive August Meeting 2024.
In line with the theme of this year's meeting, Mrs. Eneh urged the women of Awgu North to take the message of eliminating abuse seriously and to play their part in educating others about its importance. "As women, we have a responsibility to sensitize our sisters, daughters, and mothers about the dangers of abuse and the need to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone. Let us work together to foster a healthy society where every individual can thrive," she implored.
In conclusion, Mrs. Eneh encouraged women to remain vigilant in their responsibilities at home and within their communities, as this is key to building a better society. "The strength of our society lies in the strength of our families, and as women, we play a crucial role in nurturing and sustaining that strength. Let us continue to be the pillars of our homes and communities, ensuring a brighter future for all," she said.
