In a resounding victory for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo and Dr. Stanley Ezediuto has successfully emerged as the newly elected chairman and deputy chairman of Awgu Local Government following the Enugu State local government chairmanship and councillorship election held on Saturday, September 21, 2024. The election saw an overwhelming show of support for the PDP candidates, with the party also sweeping the councillorship positions in the local government.
In a congratulatory message made available to JANE-CARESTV, Enugu deputy minority leader and member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh expressed her heartfelt congratulations to Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo and Dr. Stanley Ezediuto on their well-deserved victory. She hailed their emergence as a testament to the confidence the people of Awgu have in their leadership.
Mrs. Eneh also extended her congratulations to the newly elected councillors from the five wards of Awgu North Constituency, applauding them for their success at the poll. She commended the electorates for speaking decisively through their votes, ensuring that their voices were heard at the ballots.
“I must commend the people of Awgu, especially those from my constituency, for their dedication and commitment to the democratic process. Your votes have spoken loud and clear,” Mrs. Eneh stated.
She urged the newly elected: including the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Councillors, not to disappoint the people who made sacrifices to give them this mandate. According to her, it is now their duty to justify the trust placed on them by fulfilling their campaign promises.
Mrs. Eneh also advised the Chairman-Elect, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, to take this time to revisit his campaign promises, manifesto project plans, and strategies, to ensure his leadership brings tangible benefits to the people. She emphasized the importance of consolidating and replicating the progressive initiatives championed by Governor Peter Mbah, particularly in driving economic growth and fostering developments across Awgu Local Government.
“The campaign is over; it is now time to work. I encourage you to bring your wealth of experience to the table and pursue hands-on projects that will deliver real change to our people. Let Awgu become a model of the disruptive initiatives Governor Mbah has set in motion across the state,” Mrs. Eneh added.
The victory marks a significant milestone for PDP in Awgu, and the newly elected candidates are expected to begin their tenure with a strong focus on delivering good governance and driving sustainable development in the local government.
Truly, our long-awaited tomorrow is here!
