At the inauguration of the newly elected local government council chairmen across the 17 local government areas of Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah charged the newly sworn-in leaders to hit the ground running and deliver impactful projects. The ceremony, held at the Exco Chamber of the Enugu State Government House, marked the official commencement of the newly elected chairmen’s tenure, with Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo of Awgu Local Government amongst the newly sworn-in.

Governor Mbah, in his address, urged the chairmen to make themselves accessible to the grassroots, relocate to their local government areas, and work towards delivering on their campaign promises. He emphasized the importance of smart green schools, rural infrastructure projects, agriculture, and ensuring zero tolerance for insecurity in their local government areas. According to Mbah, development thrives only in areas with a peaceful atmosphere.

Mbah reminded the new leaders that the "Tomorrow is Here" philosophy is not just a slogan but a clear vision for the immediate future. He encouraged them to think innovatively and find disruptive solutions to long-standing challenges hindering progress in their local governments.

Following the state-level inauguration, a reception for the newly sworn-in chairman of Awgu, Uchenna Okolo, was held at Awgu local government council secretariat. The event was graced by past and serving political leaders, community leaders, stakeholders, party members, and well-wishers from across Awgu.

Speaking with JANE-CARESTV after the ceremony, the deputy minority leader of the 8th Assembly and member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh congratulated Hon. Uchenna Okolo, on his resounding victory at the September 21st poll and on his official swearing-in.

Mrs. Eneh highlighted Hon. Okolo's experience as a grassroot politician and former Transition Chairman of Awgu Local Government, urging him to waste no time in executing his vision for the people of Awgu.

"You have to hit the ground running," Mrs. Eneh stated. "The people of Awgu are counting on you to bring real, tangible changes. Your 'One-Day, One-Project' slogan should not just be mere lips words. Prove to the people that, like Governor Mbah’s 'Tomorrow is Here' philosophy, that this slogan is a reality."

She further advised Hon. Okolo to strive for landmark achievements during his tenure that would leave a lasting legacy. According to her, history would remember those who not only made promises but also delivered projects that impacted lives across the council area.

With expectations high and the mandate secured, Uchenna Okolo has been entrusted with the responsibility of transforming Awgu local government through his leadership. All eyes are now on the newly sworn-in chairman to bring to life the promises made during his campaign and deliver on the vision of sustainable development and economic growth for Awgu Local Government.
