The Nwanyi bu Ife Festival 2024, a vibrant celebration of women’s empowerment, cultural heritage, and community resilience, took place on November 7, 2024, at the Amadeo Event Centre in Enugu State. Organized under the theme, “A Woman and Her Dream: Where Are Our Women?”, the festival highlighted the aspirations, contributions, and unyielding spirit of women across Nigeria, especially from Enugu State and in diaspora.
The event was designed to inspire women’s journeys, featuring cultural displays, panel discussions, spoken word performances, and keynote speeches emphasizing the impact and importance of women’s contributions to society. A central highlight was the WODAT (Women Doing Amazing Things) Award Ceremony, honouring women who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to advancing their communities and empowering others. Among the celebrated awardees was the Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh (JP). This acknowledgement served as a testament to her contributions towards societal growth and her work promoting the upliftment of women and the girl child in her constituency and beyond.
Mrs. Eneh’s selection as a WODAT awardee was met with great appreciation. In her address, delivered by her representative, Mrs. Carol Chukwu, Mrs. Eneh expressed deep gratitude to God, noting that this award was an unexpected honour and an encouraging reminder to continue her service to humanity. She dedicated the award to God’s grace, attributing her success in part to the support and love of her constituents, especially women in Awgu North, across Enugu State and beyond. Through her representative, Mrs. Eneh extended heartfelt thanks to the festival organizers, her fellow Enugu women, Awgu North constituents, and others who have supported her vision to make a positive difference. She emphasized that 'the honour strengthens her commitment to the growth, progress, and empowerment of women and humanity across her constituency and the state.'
