In a profound show of honour and spiritual recognition, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, has been officially recognized as a Patroness of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), Enugu Diocese.
The honour was conferred during the 2025 CWO Life Membership and Ambassador of Mary Awards Ceremony held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Holy Ghost Cathedral, Enugu. The occasion was marked by a solemn Holy Mass celebrated by the Auxiliary Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Ernest Obodo, and attended by dignitaries from across religious, political, and civic spaces.
In his soul-lifting homily, Bishop Obodo reminded all awardees and inductees that their recognition was a call to virtue rather than a reward for status or wealth. “You are conferred with this award not because of what you have but because you have shown virtue,” he stated, calling on mothers and women leaders to emulate the Blessed Virgin Mary in their homes and communities.
Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, known for her humility, service to humanity, and strong Christian values, expressed gratitude for the recognition. She described the Patroness honour as “an affirmation of faith and service,” noting that the Church’s blessing remains a moral compass for her public and private life.
“I’m deeply honoured to be counted among the Patronesses of such a revered and impactful women’s body in the Church. This recognition strengthens my resolve to continue promoting the values of faith, dignity, and service to our people,” Mrs Eneh said.
She extended appreciation to the CWO leadership, the Diocese, and fellow honourees, pledging continued support to programs that elevate the roles of women, mothers, and caregivers in both the Church and the wider society.
Among other notable awardees and attendees were Barr. Cecilia Ezeilo, former Deputy Governor of Enugu State; Hon. Dame Rita Mba; Barr. Stella Onu; and Dr. Mrs. Stella Ekwueme. The colourful event concluded with moments of thanksgiving and celebration across the cathedral grounds.
Congratulations once again to Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh on this well-deserved spiritual recognition.
