As Enugu State marks its 34th anniversary of creation, the Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, has once again reiterated her call for collaboration with the Governor Peter Mbah–led administration to build the Enugu State of our tomorrow.
In a Press Release after an interactive session with the media team of JANE-CARESTV on Tuesday, August 26, Mrs Eneh described the anniversary as “a moment of thanksgiving, solemn reflection, and refreshed commitment to the ideals of unity, peace, and progress upon which Enugu State was founded.”
Key Highlights from Her Address:
Call for Unity Beyond Politics
Mrs Eneh stressed that the future of Enugu State lies in the collective resolve of its people to rise above partisan divides, ethnic sentiments, and personal interests. She emphasized that “Enugu State can only move forward if we all see ourselves as one family with a shared destiny.”
Celebrating the Founding Fathers
She paid glowing tributes to the founding fathers of Enugu State, appreciating their vision, courage, and sacrifices that culminated in the creation of the state on August 27, 1991 by the then military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida. She described the event as “a divinely inspired milestone that gave Ndi Wawa a state they can proudly call their own.”
Support for Gov. Mbah’s Vision
Mrs Eneh reaffirmed her support for Governor Peter Mbah’s transformation agenda anchored on the mantra “Tomorrow is Here.” She commended the administration’s efforts in areas such as education, security, infrastructure, ICT, healthcare, and investment promotion, among others, noting that the results of these policies are beginning to take shape.
She urged all stakeholders to close ranks with the governor in order to actualize a modern, innovative, and prosperous Enugu State that competes globally.
Sustaining the Legacy of Peace and Development
The Deputy Leader acknowledged the relative peace Enugu State enjoys and called on citizens to guard it jealously. “Peace remains the bedrock of progress. Without peace, no meaningful development can take root. It is the collective duty of Ndi Enugu to sustain this harmony for the sake of our children and future generations,” she said.
Building the Enugu State of our Tomorrow
She encouraged youths, men & women, community leaders, and the political class to embrace a culture of respect, hard work, unity, and values which she noted were central to the dreams of the founding fathers. According to her, “the Enugu State of our dreams is within reach, but only if we all work together in sincerity and love.”
Looking Ahead at 34
As Enugu turns 34, Mrs Eneh expressed optimism that the years ahead would usher in even more greater achievements for Ndi Enugu in terms of infrastructural projects and disruptive innovation, among others. She called on Ndi Enugu to rededicate themselves to the vision of a state marked by excellence, innovation, and inclusiveness.
In her closing remarks, she reminded citizens that the legacy of the founding fathers is best honoured not only in words, but in actions of unity, respect, and shared responsibility.
“Our tomorrow is not just a slogan; it is a reality unfolding before our very eyes. Let us join hands with Gov. Mbah’s administration to build the Enugu State of our dreams. Together, we can make history.” — Mrs Eneh stated.
"Happy 34th Anniversary, Ndi Enugu!" Mrs Eneh wishes Ndi Enugu.
