Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh, in her goodwill message, lauded the First Lady for hosting a celebration that not only honoured Nigeria’s independence but also highlighted the voices, talents, and resilience of women and children across the state. “Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah has once again proven herself a beacon of cultural preservation, empowerment, and progressive leadership. The Independence Day event reflected her deep commitment to strengthening family values, nurturing young talents, and promoting unity in diversity,” Mrs Eneh stated.
The celebration featured some series of activities, including traditional dances, storytelling sessions, inter-generational cultural exchanges, and exhibitions that showcased Enugu’s vibrant artistry. Children, youths, and elders participated actively, emphasizing the importance of blending heritage with modern aspirations. Many attendees described the event as both colourful and inspiring, a reflection of the First Lady’s vision of using culture as a tool for development and unity.
According to Mrs Eneh, the event stood out not only for its aesthetics literature but also for its symbolic meaning. “At a time when our nation craves for unity and direction, this celebration rekindles our shared pride as Nigerians and reminds us of the values of resilience, creativity, and hope. The event was a demonstration of how cultural leadership can heal divisions and inspire future generations,” Mrs Eneh remarks.
The lawmaker further commended Mrs Mbah’s consistent advocacy for women and children, stressing that her initiatives have made a real impact in education, healthcare, and social inclusion, among others. She encouraged Enugu people and Nigerians at large to continue supporting women in leadership who, like the First Lady, are reshaping the society with compassion and vision.
