In a heartwarming show of solidarity and commendation, the Deputy Leader of the Enugu State 8th Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, has commended the wife of the governor of the state, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah, for her outstanding agricultural empowerment initiative — the distribution of fertilizers to registered farmers across Enugu’s 17 local government areas, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), NTA Road, Independence Layout, Enugu.

The gesture, which forms part of the First Lady’s ongoing empowerment programs aimed at enhancing food production and strengthening local economies, has been widely applauded as a timely and visionary effort to secure Enugu’s future through sustainable agriculture.

Mrs. Eneh, in her commendation message, described the initiative as “a practical demonstration of leadership with compassion.” She lauded Mrs. Mbah for her continuous dedication to improving the welfare of rural farmers, women, and families, noting that the distribution of fertilizers would go a long way in boosting crop yields, increasing farmers’ income, and promoting food sufficiency across the state.

“What Her Excellency has done reflects true partnership with the people — empowering those who feed our state and nation. When farmers thrive, Enugu thrives. This initiative complements Gov. Mbah’s transformative vision for economic growth, food security, and self-reliance,” Mrs. Eneh stated.

She further noted that the First Lady’s leadership style — marked by empathy, innovation, and inclusion — continues to inspire women across all sectors. According to her, the fertilizer distribution initiative represents a strategic investment in Enugu’s agrarian communities and reaffirms the government’s commitment to turning agriculture into a sustainable business that drives rural development.

The fertilizer empowerment program, executed through the Office of the First Lady in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Industrialisation, is part of a larger effort to strengthen food systems and support local farmers with vital agricultural inputs. Her Excellency, Mrs. Mbah, emphasized during the launch that the project aims not only to increase productivity but also to ensure that no family in Enugu goes hungry.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to apply the fertilizers wisely and responsibly, highlighting that “when farmers work with the right tools, communities prosper.”

In her remarks, Mrs. Eneh lauded this initiative, describing it as “a call to collective responsibility” and urging other public officeholders to emulate such people-centered initiatives.

“Her Excellency has continued to show that leadership is not about position, but about impact. Through her initiatives, she is transforming lives quietly yet powerfully — empowering women, supporting families, and nurturing the seeds of tomorrow’s prosperity,” she added.

Mrs. Eneh also congratulated the Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Patrick Ubru, and his team for their collaboration in making the program a success, stressing that such synergy between government offices ensures that the vision of Mbah’s administration translates into measurable benefits for the people of the state.

The commendation by Mrs Eneh underscores a shared commitment among Enugu’s women leaders to champion sustainable development and community empowerment — a reflection of the unity and progressive spirit driving Enugu State towards food security and economic resilience.
