In a landmark appointment announced on Friday, October 24, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu named Air Vice-Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke as the 23rd Nigeria's Chief of Air Staff. From his roots in Abanabor Village, Umuaga Obodoeze, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, his elevation has captured the pride of his home region and imprinted the national stage. The Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh, Member representing Awgu North Constituency, has joined the people of Enugu in extending warm congratulations to AVM Aneke, describing the appointment as “a vital recognition of talent from our land and a promise of broader progress.”

Mrs. Eneh highlighted AVM Aneke’s distinguished military record—over 4,300 flying hours, advanced strategic studies, and leadership in key operations—as evidence that Enugu son is ready to serve at the highest level of national security. “We are proud of AVM Sunday Kelvin Aneke,” she said.

“His appointment reflects the potential of our region and shows that aligning with the centre is paying off for the state.” She added that the Mbah-led administration’s collaboration with federal leadership has begun to yield tangible results, urging Ndi Enugu to remain supportive of the government in power.

AVM Aneke’s background features a comprehensive education—with postgraduate degrees in International Affairs & Diplomacy, Political Economy & Development Studies, and Strategic Studies from the U.S Air War College—and operational leadership, spanning Peacekeeping in the DR Congo to senior roles in the Movement Command. His new role as Chief of Air Staff places him at the helm of one of Nigeria’s most vital institutions and signals renewed representation for the South East within national defence leadership.

Mrs. Eneh’s commendation carries a clear message of civic responsibility: that regional pride must evolve into sustained support for systems that elevate local talent into national service. She called on “Ndi Enugu” to continue backing the governor’s progressive agenda—and to view AVM Aneke’s appointment not only as an individual achievement but as part of a broader narrative of growth, influence, and repositioning.

“As you assume this national duty, I wish you wisdom, courage, and success,” she said to AVM Aneke. “May your leadership strengthen our skies and our state’s voice in the force.

Mrs. Eneh also extended her commendation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for finding an Enugu son worthy of such a strategic national responsibility. She noted that the appointment reflects the President’s openness to recognizing competence across regions. However, she appealed respectfully that, like Oliver Twist, Ndi Enugu earnestly hope for more opportunities in federal leadership across various sectors, emphasizing that inclusive appointments foster national unity, strengthen trust, and deepen the sense of belonging among all citizens.
