A coalition of influential women leaders across Enugu State, comprising stakeholders from both the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally launched an alliance to support the re-election of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027. The strategic inaugural meeting, held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the APC Party Secretariat, GRA, Enugu, was approved by the Chairman of APC Enugu State Caretaker Committee, Dr. Ben Nwoye.
The meeting brought together the two female lawmakers in the Enugu State House of Assembly, five local government vice-chairpersons, three female Commissioners, female appointees in the Office of the Governor, and women political leaders across party divides, among others. The gathering marked a significant consensus-building step towards strengthening women’s involvement in shaping the state’s political direction.
Convened by a member of the APC Enugu State Caretaker Committee, Dr. (Mrs.) Oby Ajih, the coalition, aims to consolidate a united voice for sustained governance progress in Enugu State. According to Dr. Ajih, the alliance reflects maturity and shared purpose beyond political party interests, centred on development continuity and collective responsibility.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane C. Eneh, commended the initiative, describing it as a testament to women’s rising leadership influence. She emphasized that Enugu women remain strategic actors in promoting peace, stability, and progressive governance across the state.
The women stakeholders expressed gratitude to Gov. Mbah for his inspiring leadership, stating that his performance had made mobilization across party lines seamless, without hesitation. They affirmed that “Governor Mbah is working, and therefore deserves the support for a second tenure.” The coalition is expected to begin statewide sensitization and grassroots engagement in the coming months, with a commitment to unity and advancement of Enugu State.
With Gov. Mbah, "Our long-awaited tomorrow is here," the women echoed!
