The Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh has commended the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her compassionate support to elderly persons in Enugu State through her Renewed Hope Initiative’s Elderly Support Scheme (RHIESS).

The programme, held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Independence Layout, Enugu, saw 250 senior persons, selected across the local government areas in the state, aged 65 years and above receive ₦200,000 each to support their welfare.

Mrs Eneh described the initiative as a timely intervention that reflects Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and social intervention, noting that the gesture would ease economic pressures on elderly persons, especially during this festive season.

She also commends the Enugu First Lady, Her Excellency Mrs Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah (Ife Ka Ugo), who represented Senator Tinubu and coordinated the scheme in the state, for her transparency and dedication in her services to the people of the state.

Adding further, Mrs Eneh lauded the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his wife, Her Excellency, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, for further expanding the programme by supporting an additional 250 elderly persons, bringing the total beneficiaries to a total of 500 persons in the state.

According to Mrs Eneh, the initiative demonstrates the power of effective collaboration between national and state leadership in delivering people-oriented social welfare programmes.
