The Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane C. Eneh, on Saturday, December 6, visited Ituku to commiserate with Evang. Mrs. Gladys Chukwu and her family over the passing of their daughter, Mrs. Chikaodili Chukwu (Halima Jinyemiema).
In a solemn atmosphere marked by grief, compassion, and shared humanity, Mrs Eneh joined family members, friends, and sympathizers at Mr Chukwu family compound as the remains of their daughter, late Mrs Chikaodili arrived for a brief stop-over in accordance with family tradition before proceeding to Rivers State for interment.
Late Mrs Chikaodili Chukwu, who passed on, November 6, 2025, was a "cherished daughter, wife, mother, and sister—fondly remembered for her warmth, devotion, and admirable strength. Her passing has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew her," Mrs Eneh stated.
As one from the same ward, Mrs Eneh’s visit carried significant symbolic weight. Beyond her political role, her presence reflected a shared community identity, long-standing sisterhood, and years of mutual respect and collaboration with Evang. Mrs Gladys Chukwu—a respected political stakeholder, wife, mother, and committed member of Jane Cares Support Group, among others.
Standing beside the grieving family, Mrs Eneh offered prayers and words of comfort, reaffirming that leadership is defined not only by public service but also by compassion and presence during life’s most difficult moments.
A Heart-Touching Tribute from Rt. Hon. Mrs Jane Eneh reads thus;
"Today, I stand not only as a public servant, but as a sister, a mother, and a woman from this same ward. Losing a child is a pain no parent can ever endure. I'm here in Ituku to honour the memory of our daughter, Chikaodili, and to stand with my dear sister, Evang. Gladys Chukwu, in this moment of unimaginable grief.
Chikaodili’s life was a blessing, and her memory will remain a light in the hearts of all who knew her. May God grant Mr & Mrs Chukwu's family the strength to carry on, and may her gentle soul find eternal rest," Mrs Eneh said.
Her words moved many to tears, capturing the collective sorrow of the community and reminding all present that unity, empathy, and love remain the pillars of Awgu North Constituency.
As the body of Mrs Chikaodili Chukwu continued its journey to Rivers State for burial, the atmosphere remained solemn yet strengthened by the overwhelming support from friends, neighbours, and leaders standing in solidarity with Chukwu family.
In moments like this, the resilience and togetherness of the community shine brightest—demonstrating that even in loss, Awgu North stands united.
Adieu, Chikaodili.
May your soul find eternal rest.
