Women across the state gathered on Friday, January 9th, 2026, at Michael Okpara Square, Independence, Enugu, for the january edition of the Enugu Women Monthly Prayer Network in the new year. The gathering marked a solemn and hopeful start to 2026 as women converged in prayer, worship, and thanksgiving—committing the state, its leadership, and their families into God’s hands while seeking peace, stability, and sustained progress for Enugu State.

The January fellowship recorded a wide turnout of Enugu women stakeholders, Chairpersons and wives of Local Government Chairmen from across the state, as well as women from various communities. Also present was the Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane C. Eneh, whose consistent participation continues to reflect her strong alignment with faith-based leadership, unity, and the collective aspirations of Enugu women.

The gathering was led by the coordinator of the Enugu Women Prayer Network, Dr. Favour Ugwuanyi, who guided the session through worship and focused intercessory prayers. In her message, she made a passionate call for peace, love, and unity across the state, urging women to remain steadfast in supporting leadership that prioritizes development and good governance. She further encouraged Enugu women to mobilize and support the re-election of Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah in 2027, stressing the importance of continuity in sustaining ongoing developmental strides.

During the fellowship, Mrs. Eneh commended the Wife of the Governor and Leader of the Women Prayer Network, Her Excellency Mrs. Nkechinyere Iheoma Mbah, for her exemplary and inspiring leadership. She lauded the First Lady’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of women, children, and the elderly across the state, particularly highlighting her inclusive outreach, compassion-driven initiatives, and her celebration with women, children, and senior citizens during the yuletide season. Mrs. Eneh assures the First Lady that Enugu women remain firmly united and supportive of her vision and that of her husband, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, as the state looks ahead to 2027.

Participants described the January edition as timely, uplifting, and unifying, noting that the convergence of women from different political, social, and local government backgrounds reaffirmed the prayer network’s role as a strong platform for spiritual renewal and civic consciousness. The session concluded with collective prayers for the governor, state leadership, economic growth, peaceful coexistence, and a prosperous future for the state.

As preparations begin for the February 9th gathering, women across the state are encouraged to remain committed to prayer, unity, and active participation in building a peaceful and progressive society.
