As the world marked World Cancer Day 2026, on February 4, the Deputy Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Awgu North Constituency, Rt. Hon. Mrs. Jane Eneh has called on constituents to embrace awareness, early detection, and compassion in the collective fight against cancer.
In her message to constituents, Mrs. Eneh described World Cancer Day as a moment for reflection, education, and renewed commitment to saving lives through informed choices and community support.
She emphasized that cancer remains one of the leading health challenges globally but noted that early diagnosis, access to information, and supportive health systems can significantly improve survival rates and quality of life.
“World Cancer Day reminds us that cancer is not just a medical issue, but a shared human concern that requires awareness, empathy, and proactive action,” she stated.
Mrs. Eneh urged families, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote regular health checks, reduce stigma around cancer, and support those currently battling the disease.
She reaffirmed her commitment to standing in solidarity with fighters, survivors, and families affected by cancer, stressing that together, lives can be saved through awareness, action, and promoting hope.
